Ocean NanoTech offers the following services for the characterization of nanoparticles:
Hydrodynamic size of nanoparticles
Dynamic Light Scattering instrument (Microtrac Ultral 151) will be used for the analysis of nanoparticle size.
Price: $40/sample for 1-9 samples, $30/sample for 10-50 samples within a calendar year.
TOC analyzer (GE, Servers RL500) will be used for the analysis of the total organic carbon on the nanoparticle surface. The sample concentration can be as low as 0.4 ppb. Different from regular organic carbon in the water, the TOC analysis of the carbon on the nanoparticle surface have some technical difficulties. The biggest problem is that the organic compound can’t be destroyed on the nanoparticles surface. Another big problem is that the nanoparticles will be aggregated on TOC tubing and block it. With the support from the NIH SBIR program, Ocean NanoTech has developed a proprietary procedure to overcome these difficulties.

Emission quantum efficiency of quantum dots
Integrating sphere will be used to accurately measure the emission quantum efficiency of quantum dots.
